Life Skills Centers, Inc. started in 1981 under Northwest Regional Residential Centers.
In September of 1983, we incorporated with three sheltered workshops. We soon progressed to serving the intellectually/developmentally disabled and medically fragile populations after our incorporation.
In 2009 we advanced to our current twelve programs in the tri-county area, covering St. Clair, Macomb, and Oakland Counties. Our primary focus is on both facility based and community based skill building. We also have a strong focus on community integration, consumer advocacy, and helping our consumers to develop full meaningful lives.
All of our programs are individual centered and focused upon helping people to become as independent as possible and to become fully integrated into their community.
We strongly believe that in order to become integrated into the community, people must learn how to develop friendships and socialize with members of their local community.
