Discovering that a loved one has Alzheimer’s disease or other related dementias, is a life-changing event for both the caregiver and the person living with dementia. Managing activities of daily living and the fear of how to care for your loved one can seem overwhelming. The best way to prepare for the journey ahead is to learn about the disease, discuss care options with your health care provider, and create a support network for both you and your loved one. Maintaining community and social engagement is essential to continued quality of life and wellness for all.
